Tuning

There is always something to optimize on a sailboat. Much more with a racer. It is tuned in different areas to get the best out of it. In IT, too, it is important to keep turning the various adjusting screws during a project in order to achieve optimal performance for the customer.

In the office.

  • Monitoring

When sailing, data on speed and wind angle is stored, which is then used to create Polar Performance Charts. These can be used later on to read the best possible target speed for a given angle and wind strength and compare the current speed with it.

  • Performance-Tests

Running performance diagnostic tools and monitoring the results to fine-tune the application will help troubleshoot performance problems early on.

  • Database performance

One aspect of performance is database performance and optimization. This can be considered either as a preventive measure or as a solution to poor online or batch performance.

  • Sizing

If requirements in the project have to be adjusted unplanned, it may be necessary to optimize the sizing. This in turn leads to an improvement in performance.

At sea.

  • Polar Performance

When sailing, data on speed and wind angle is stored, which is then used to create Polar Performance Charts. These can be used later on to read the best possible target speed for a given angle and wind strength and compare the current speed with it.

  • Maneuver Analytics

Video footage from training sessions can be used to analyze maneuvers and improve them next time.

  • Hull hydrodynamics

Hydrodynamics of the hull play a very important role. It can be improved by optimizing the trailing edges on the keel and the rudders.

  • Stearing

To ensure that the rudders are perfectly balanced, optimized pressure points are calculated and the rudder fittings are aligned accordingly
