Regatta start after compulsory break

In a new robe – Mini 982 in the look of Avanade Deutschland GmbH

I had not imagined the start of the season like this either. Due to the Corona crisis, my Mini 6.50 layed ready to sail for 8 weeks in the most beautiful sailing weather at the berth in the harbour of Strande/Kiel and was not allowed to be moved. Therefore I worked in the home office for offshore sailors and dealt with weather strategy, intensified my sports program and above all reduced the TO DO list of boat work.

Since the beginning of May it is finally allowed to sail again. I had to throw my regatta season planning over the edge several times. . Meanwhile, all sports competitions in France – and thus also all regattas of the “Classe Mini”- have been cancelled until the end of July. So I will stay in Germany until summer, train on the Baltic Sea and take all the regattas that take place with me. How exactly the second half of the season will continue has not yet been decided.

The Baltic 500 Race will be the start, which luckily will be allowed to start in its 2nd edition under infection protection rules. Start is on 21.05. at 10:00 am at Strander Bay. 35 two-handed crews, including 4 Mini 6.50, will follow a modified course along the German coast between Flensburg and Rügen. WHOMPER is well prepared and will give everything in her new orange outfit!

Moment – orange? At the beginning of May my Wevo 6.5 was refoliated in Rostock. “Green becomes orange” was the motto. Alnamic AG from Neuss, my main sponsor since 2017, was recently integrated into Avanade Deutschland GmbH, the leading digital innovator in the Microsoft ecosystem. hus we are now continuing with a larger and international partner. I am excited and looking forward to this new chapter on the way to the “Mini Transat 2021”! Take a look at the great transformation to the new design yourself in the video.
